This is very infantile & wholly in breach of assurances Johnson gave the Court of Session.

In no particular order, here’s all the ways the Brits have violated the Good Friday Agreement: – refusing to recognise Irish citizenship of Irish citizens in North (as confirmed today) – forming a supply and demand arrangement with DUP, thereby negating duty to remain neutral

    Mornin’ Nana. 🙂

Definitely a two cup morning t’boot. Westminster political class and international agreements… hmmm. What are they like, eh? 🙄

GFA, Treaty of Union, EU withdrawal agreement, there’s a bit of a track record to be sure, and a lesson. Mainly… about HOW politics is viewed and practised. Also what to expect from a prospective indyref and the political ins and outs about/around holding one. We’re seeing a fair dose of it now.

Article in Daily Telegraph website saying the DUP want a veto over any deal. That may be coded language for: ‘We want a bigger bung’.

If they get it will there be Barnett consequentials? Asking for a friend – lol.

The “best” possible outcome for those that support Independence might well be if the proposed Boris deal which is really just May’s old deal is accepted by the EU and passed in parliament.

I say that as it means Scotland has been dragged out of the EU, no single market and no customs union. It’s the hardest of hard Brexit’s and only a no deal Brexit could possibly be worse. However, crucially it also means that there will be a transition period and if Nicola Sturgeon can get that 2nd referendum scheduled as planned for 2020 then given a Yes vote it’s possible that Scotland may not ever officially leave the EU.

For what it’s worth I don’t think this “deal” being discussed today has much chance of winning the support of parliament and we’re heading for another extension as mandated by the Benn Act, and after that? More of the same LOL

Late out the traps today, Nana.

It’s not just the poor journalism re Boris’s obvious hypocrisy on ID cards. If there is ever a proper study of Brexit and journalism, it will surely conclude the media in general and the BBC in particular have been splendid enablers of Brexit, whether in the blatant lionising of Farage or the little things, like never mentioning 56% of people in NI voted remain.

Failings like that produce articles on PFI in The Scotsman where “Scottish” Labour’s part in it is completely elided, to the extent that Richmal Leotard heroically says BLIS______d will ban such shocking practices.

Utterly shameless, these politicians and journalists. Don’t know why Ruth Wishart expected better of Zoe Williams *shakes head ruefully*.

No cake for you Tinto, too late to the party!

      Here have this instead

BREAKING: Government has tabled a motion for Parliament to sit on Saturday – the first time it’s done so since the Falklands War. 9.30am – 2pm. MPs vote on the motion tomorrow, if the government’s actually moves it. Of course the idea is for MPs to approve a Brexit deal on Sat.

@Nana: wot, no cake? Had the most amazing orange and poppy seed cake in the wee mill bookshop in Aberfeldy last week. Still think about it……It was that word “cake” wot you done used set me off.

I keep thinking, Alex, what the DUP will get bunged or how they will be placated? Of course, Big Arlene may end up like Edward Carson, saying, “What a fool I was. I was only a puppet, and so was Ulster.”

    Never trust a Tory.

Never trust a Tory right enough and if the DUP do buy into the deal that Johnson is trying to sell them then woe betide them when it all comes crashing down. I don’t think there will be enough support in parliament for this deal so it may not come to that, yet.

Even if the deal did get through I think it could only be on condition that this deal and remain are offered in another referendum, but I think that’s unlikely too. When you read as much as you do via Nana’s links and other news sites you can’t help getting so many conflicting pictures but generally you can form some kind of likelihood as to the next most probable event.

One thing is clear and has been since 2017, Nicola Sturgeon was absolutely right to say she would announce her plans for another referendum “when the terms of Brexit were clear”. We haven’t actually resolved Brexit yet and the case for Independence has just continued to strengthen during this horrendous period of uncertainty.

Good things come to those who wait or so I’ve heard 🙂
