Royal Assent - process

I wondered so I looked it up. First off, the Presiding Officer does NOT submit a passed Bill for RA until the expiration of 4 weeks (Reconsideration Stage), unless he's been told there's no problem like a challenge by the Law officers. Then after the 4 weeks he submits the Bill. So for the Referendums Bill passed 19th December, 4 weeks is until 16th January, so submitted on Friday 17th January. It then takes apparently 7 to 10 working days, though there's no set time!

So we might have to wait until 31st January, and THAT might explain why Sturgeon won't say anything till next week, and also why there's maybe some doubt about it. Not sure what would happen if the Ministers acting for the Queen just didn't bother, though it seems to me the FM has the Seal of Scotland and could do a DIY on it with two fingers up to the lot of them yes please just do it and GIRFUY Bojo. Phew. I needed that.
