Hackalumpoff I've been trying to post copied data, say as a new topic or even on your link site, to no avail. ''Paste'' isn't showing up for me.  This may be the case for others too? Any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong? What I can do?

@petra

If you are using MS Windows and you right click with the mouse the  "Context Menu" is what appears. The copy and paste commands are usually there along with others. Some apps add their own commands which can mess the basic menu up.

I have the same issue with "Paste" disappearing, sometimes just a left click then right click sorts it. If not, I usually get round it by reverting to the keyboard shortcuts of "Ctrl+V" or "Shift+Ins",

I use Chrome so it may be different in other browsers but the Keyboard Commands should always be the same unless you are an Applemac fan. As for iPads, they are too simple for me 🤔

Search Google for "PASTE DISAPPEARED FROM CONTEXT MENU" and you will see it is a common issue with everyone having their answers. There is no single cause so no simple cure, however, I seem to get the problem most on Wordpress sites which the majority of blogs use.

The nuclear option of shutting down and starting up again (not just a restart) usually cures it for a day or two. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Short(ish) answer re. copying and pasting:

Windows: Highlight the text you want to copy with your mouse then click on the highlighted text with the right mouse button. Select 'Copy' .  (See graphic below). Now put the cursor in the current typing area, right- click again and hit Paste.

Instead of using the right-click menu you can also use keyboard shortcuts -  Control-C for 'copy', Control-V for 'paste' - worth practicing with if you copy and paste regularly.

Android phone: Highlight the text then let your finger rest on it (don't click). A menu will come up. Select 'Copy'. Put your finger where you want to paste and let it rest briefly. Select Paste from the menu that comes up. Job done.

iPhone: No idea. Hell mend you for being a disciple of the dark side. Hopefully an iPhone user will add to this thread to enlighten us.

Thanks for responding to my post  Hackalumpoff / ScotsRenewables. I'm caught up with something else at the moment so will try it out later by following your instructions.

Hackalumpoff I am reposting the video that you kindly put up for me on how to copy and paste on an iPad. I found it exactly what I needed and think this will be a good home for it

Could you advise on copying You Tube?  I know something has to be deleted at the start so that it is the link and not the whole video that is inserted but is it just https or is it https:// ?

Many thanks

I'm getting 'Video Unavailable' for that link, Ann

Sorry about that.  I don’t know what happened. I had problems whilst writing then the site completely froze. Try again

Depends on the site you are using but if you delete everything to the left of the www in the link and post the remainder it usually leaves the youtube link and not the video,  Wordpress then reinserts the http bit. When wrote the link below there was no http://

see  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBOj1xAu2NQ.

Alternatively on this site you could click the paperclip icon in the formatting menu above the box you type into and paste the link in there, Wordpress seems to like that may it should be renamed Weirdpress 😕

Thank you Hackalumpoff I will try that
